Great, authentic Portuguese food in the area. This is in comparison to iron bound section of Newark, nj

This Place is the Place to go for Amazing Portuguese Atmosphere, Flavor, and Aroma when you walk through the portal. Actually speaking to the Owners they are actually from Ferry Street Newark. The Ironbound. The Famous "Little Portugal" section of Newark that every in Jersey craves for. Everyone on this Yelp site has been talking about Newark well these guys are from there so why go there when you can go here? Why do they have such great Food? One reason? Experience and Great Cooks who have been doing this great Art of Portuguese Cuisine for years. Why sit in hours of traffic on Route 78? Relax in a Friendly atmosphere and enjoy .

My family has ordered from this establishment MANY times and has never had an issue with them. Today as I was eating a dish we normally always get and I happened to find multiple strands of hair in the rice and fries that were prepared. And what didn't help matters was that when we took the plastic off of the container of pork cubes... the food was so hot it ended up melting some of the plastic into the actual container itself. To our surprise when we called and spoke with a young girl about our issues, their response was "Well bring us the food to prove that the hair was ours and that it was in your food... then we can issue a partial refund". I'm sorry but for any type of restaurant you shouldn't have to prove their was hair in someone's food. There's no law that says "thou shall prove there was hair in my food". So needless to say I won't be recommending anyone to eat there any longer.

Truly amazing! This place has been here for more than 17 years, and I can't believe I only recently tried it out for the first time. In fact, I went back again a second time within the same week. And I will be back again and again!
This restaurant sits inside a rather small, unassuming building. I've driven by it hundreds of times without ever even noticing it. The entrance takes you into their take-out area, and the open kitchen behind the counter was the first sign to me that I was in for a treat. There was a pile of charcoal bags neatly stacked in the corner, and I was hoping they had tables because I really wanted to sit down there to enjoy whatever it was that smelled so good.
A genuinely friendly server promptly came out of a door, and she welcomed us to sit down. We ordered what we though would be good, and we took her suggestions for a few things. We ordered way more food than we should have, but we ended up finishing most of it anyway. I can tell you this - anything you order will make you happy. Nothing is overly seasoned or smoky, but everything is seasoned perfectly.
There is nothing fancy about this place except for the food. Everything in this restaurant is clean, including the men's room. It even smelled good in there! Being able to see into the well-worked but spotless kitchen as well as seeing everything well maintained lets me know that this place is owned and run with pride.
This place is worth trying out. Parking is wherever you can find it around the building. They said that Friday and Saturday nights are quite busy. We were there early on a Sunday and Tuesday afternoon, and it was jut about empty both times. -

Came here after reading the reviews. The service here was great and the food is very similar to what I'm used to in Newark. Sad that I've been here so many years and I've just found this place. But better late than never. I had the pork ribs and beef ribs and I'll be back to try the steak and sausage. Great service Yvette and Arsenio.
